High Hopes

Oh, yeah. My epiphany. I was watching Grey's Anatomy a few weeks ago and I had an incredible (not exactly incredibly, but incredible at the moment) life realization. I didn't technically steal the moral of the story, I took it and made it my own. It's pointless, but it was a sign, a vision of the near future for me, and I didn't even know it.
When you meet someone, they're your other puzzle piece. They are what completes you, what makes you a whole. But of course, they're not perfect, and neither are you. They're not your perfect, exact puzzle piece, but they seem like it, or you wish, hope, pray that they are your exact puzzle piece because of the way they make you feel. So to make yourself precisely fit with their lifestyle, personality, their shape, you reshape by chopping off chunks of yourself once in a while and slowly shaving off small layers. Then, once you do sort of, never exact, seem to fit them, their needs, their wants, their everything, you look at yourself and don't remember who you once were. The person you're staring at is a stranger. The only characteristic that you're familiar with is the same eyes, which lead to the same soul, which tells you a story that you can recite by heart, your story. The someone you now call, "Your Someone", starts to realize that you don't fit them precisely, to the point that you are the perfect pair of puzzle pieces. They start to drift from what you've become, from the person you've shaped yourself to be just to match that someone, and as soon as they're gone and you find a new someone, you go through the same cycle, which can only be described as beyond helplessly ridiculous in the way that makes your heart melt into a pool of uncertainty. Sooner or later you'll find the someone that still doesn't fit you perfectly, but out of habit you change yourself, yet again. This time you recognize what you've become. That person you look at, wondering where you've seen her before, is the same person you looked at before you entered your journey, your unpredictable cycle. That person that you thought you had to change yourself, for yet another time, changed you back to who you were, your original person.
Like my epiphany? It's incredible. I am completely and utterly amazed that that came out of me, out of the pessimistic depressed heart of mine.

Currently: Watching One Tree Hill.
